Descrição
Aula 1.Early treatment
Early treatment primarily deal with emerging permanent teeth and facilitate normal skeletal development to avoid subsequent complex orthodontic challenges. Therefore the emphasis at this stage is to alleviate symptoms to pressing issues and clinically the interventions often lack a holistic diagnosis and long-term treatment plan. This lecture hopes to provide a systematic diagnostic approach to help clinicians to decide when and what conditions warrant an early intervention while others are merely futile efforts that will only reduce patient cooperation over an extended period of treatment.
Learning objectives:
– After this lecture, you will be able to analyze the pros and cons for early treatment.– After this lecture, you will be able to evaluate when and what conditions will be indicative of early treatment.– After this lecture, you will be able to utilize a number of strategies to simplify early treatment and reduce treatment time
Aula 2.Class II correction
The orthodontic resolution of Class II malocclusion involves designing mechanics to distally move teeth with a number of orthodontic appliances. This lecture aims to convince clinicians that severe Class II malocclusion can be. The orthodontic resolution of Class II malocclusion involves designing mechanics to distally move teeth with a number of orthodontic appliances. This lecture aims to convince clinicians that severe Class II malocclusion can be treated with the appropriate application of bite turbo, Class II elastics and IZC screws. These simple tools together form a consistent force system that requires little patients` active compliance and avoids many of the challenges presented by conventional treatment modalities, such as extra-oral headgear and functional orthopaedic appliances. Detailed treatment processes will be presented to enhance clinicians` skills in executing this treatment method.
Learning objectives:
– After this lecture, you will be able to design a simple force system utilizing TADs, Class II elastics and self-ligation system for Class II treatment.– After this lecture, you will be able to conduct differential treatment to varying types of Class II malocclusion.– After this lecture, you will be able to utilize a number of practical tools to the treatment of skeletal or dental Class II malocclusion.
Aula 3.Ortho-implant connections
Chronic tooth loss is one of the common problems in adult complex cases. This issue often results in tilted adjacent teeth, elongation of antagonistic teeth, bone resorption in the edentulous zone, and even maxillary sinus pneumatization, in addition to a wide range of periodontal challenges.
Orthodontic treatment provides an ideal alternative to create more favorable soft and hard tissue conditions and pave the way for following periodontal, restorative care and implant surgeries. This lecture aims to demonstrate how to utilize orthodontic techniques to design and execute a comprehensive treatment plan to achieve a functional and esthetic occlusion for adult patients.
Learning objectives:
– After this lecture, you will be able to articulate the sequence of interdisciplinary treatment for complex adult cases.– After this lecture, you will be able to evaluate when to close large spaces orthodontically or insert an implant substitution based on clinical indications and patient preference.– After this lecture, you will be able to design minimally invasive treatment plans to restore a functional occlusion.

Editor do International Journal of Orthodontics (JDO), distribuído internacionalmente.
DDS. PhD em Fisiologia Óssea pela Indiana University, EUA. Certificado em Ortodontia pela Indiana University. Diplomata do American Board of Orthodontics (ABO). Membro ativo da Angle Society-Midwest. Autor e coautor de múltiplos livros didáticos ortodônticos incluindo "Orthodontics" Volumes 1-6, "Words of Wisdom," "Jobsology," e "Trumpology."
