Aposentou-se em fevereiro de 2022 após carreira distinta estabelecendo Kyungpook National University como centro internacional de excelência em pesquisa de microimplantes ortodônticos e aplicação clínica. Pioneiro no desenvolvimento de dispositivos de ancoragem temporária ortodôntica (TADs), tendo colocado e estudado milhares de microimplantes desde o início dos anos 1990. Desenvolveu protocolos cirúrgicos, princípios biomecânicos e aplicações clínicas para TADs que se tornaram padrão mundialmente.
Autoridade internacional em ancoragem esquelética tendo treinado centenas de ortodontistas de todo o mundo através de cursos práticos e programas de fellowship na Kyungpook National University.
