Full Professor of Endodontology at the University of Amsterdam (UvA) and Academic Centre for Dentistry Amsterdam (ACTA), appointed February 2026. Chair of the Department of Endodontology at ACTA, where he integrates patient care, undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, and scientific research.
Over 20 years of specialized clinical practice limited to endodontics in Amsterdam. Research focuses on treatment outcomes of root canal therapy, innovative diagnostic techniques, and evidence-based clinical decision-making with emphasis on appropriate treatment indications and avoiding overtreatment.
Extensive international collaboration with researchers across Europe and beyond, resulting in numerous publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals. Author and editor of multiple textbooks on endodontics. Active as international lecturer and supervisor of multiple PhD research projects.
