Aula 1.Function Evolution 2.0: Hands on Course on Definite Orthodontic treatment for patients with TMD (part 1)

- Regeneration tissue therapy for the TMJ, `Prolotherapy`.
- Description and sequence of the Definitive Orthodontic Treatment for patients with TMD.

The recent way of life and social stress can activate latent Temporomandibular Joint problems which is a severe physiological disease that affects and deteriorates the quality of life of many patients and has been increasing among our patients due to the different stressful situations. During more than half a century there has been controversy among general dentists, prosthodontists, orthognathic surgeons and orthodontists on how to diagnose and treat TMD problems. This means that we have many different concepts in dentistry on how the TMD problems have to be diagnosed and approached. Some TMJ concepts and treatments are obsolete and only give a temporary solution to this very complex craniomandibular syndrome.

Some invasive surgical treatments are performed, but many of them give a temporary or provisional solution to this complicated Disease.

An evidence based `definite and non invasive therapy` with orthodontic treatment has been performed for the last 15 years. A definitive treatment to the patients that suffer this severe disease is provided in order to avoid the long term use of `an occlusal splint` as a `lifelong therapy device`.

The prolotherapy and infiltration of autogenous stem cells is used to regenerate the damage tissues of the TMJ and avoid the continue degeneration of it.

Aula 2.Function Evolution 2.0: Why using condylography? Or what are the benefits of condylography?

Mandibular jaw tracking versus T.M.J. tracking;
Condylography compared to M.R.I.;
Condylography compared to C.B.C.T.;
Evaluation in dynamics;

Condylography attributes:

- Quantity,
- Quality
- Characteristics
- Symmetry
- Reproducibility
- Special findings;

Translation/rotation of the condyles;
Velocity (time curves);
Transversal shift of the condyles during translation of symmetrical movements;
Articulator programming.

Aula 3.Function Evolution 2.0: Hands on Course on Definite Orthodontic treatment for patients with TMD (part 2)

- Regeneration tissue therapy for the TMJ, `Prolotherapy`.

Aula 4.Function Evolution 2.0: Correlation between initial diagnosis and the findings on condylography

Condylography should confirm or infirm our initial diagnosis.

Healthy joints:

- What to expect at the initial exam
- What should we see on condylographic `examination`

Reducible joint luxations:

- What to expect at the initial exam
- What should we see on condylographic `examination`

Acute non-reducible joint luxations:

- What to expect at the initial exam
- What should we see on condylographic `examination`

Chronic non-reducible joint luxations :

- What to expect at the initial exam
- What should we see on condylographic `examination`

 Arthrosis and arthritic joints :

- What to expect at the initial exam
- What should we see on condylographic `examination`

When to ask for M.R.I.
When to ask for C.B.C.T.

Aula 5.Function Evolution 2.0: TMD from an orthodontic point of view - Development and early treatment concepts

- Early development of the mandibular orientation- Importance of Airway- Early interceptive treatment approach- Understanding the different dysfunctional mandibular positions and their effects on the TMJ- Zones of orthodontic Influence- Symmetry of the mandible with emphasis on the Midline

Aula 6.Function Evolution 2.0. A practical Guide of TMD - Diagnosis in the everyday. OrthoPractice - how to treat: an example case

- How can Orthodontics help or harm a patient - What can the specialist look out for at the first consultation- What patient complaints should we focus on- What exactly is understood by TMD - what does it encompass?- What is the acute phase of treatment- When and how do we perform the orthodontics
