Honorary Professor na Wuhan University School of Stomatology, Wuhan, China, e Distinguished Adjunct Professor no Saveetha Dental College, Chennai, Índia. Especialista em procedimentos endodônticos complexos com prática focada em retratamento e endodontia cirúrgica.
Mais de 50 anos de experiência acadêmica e clínica combinada em endodontia. Serviu como Professor e Chairman do Department of Endodontics em múltiplas instituições incluindo Medical College of Virginia (1975-1976), University of Maryland Baltimore College of Dental Surgery (1976-1982), e Baylor College of Dentistry (1982-2014). Faculdade em tempo integral por 27 anos antes de transicionar para prática endodôntica privada em Dallas, Texas.
Diplomate do American Board of Endodontics. Past President da American Association of Endodontists (AAE). Past President e atual Editor do Journal of the History of Dentistry para American Academy of the History of Dentistry. Um dos especialistas mais citados em endodontia com mais de 375 publicações revisadas por pares em revistas líderes incluindo Journal of Endodontics, International Endodontic Journal, e Oral Surgery Oral Medicine Oral Pathology. Autor sênior do livro didático "Problem Solving in Endodontics" (5ª edição, 2011), traduzido para nove idiomas. Apresentou mais de 850 palestras e cursos de educação continuada nos Estados Unidos e 54 países em seis continentes. Membro honorário de sociedades dentais na Grécia, Líbano, Colômbia, Turquia e múltiplos outros países.
DDS pela Marquette University, Milwaukee, Wisconsin (1970). Certificate em Endodontia pela University of Illinois at Chicago (1973). PhD honorário de múltiplas instituições. Receptor do Edgar D. Coolidge Award (máxima honra do AAE), I.B. Bender Lifetime Educator Award (AAE), Jens Ove Andreasen Lifetime Achievement Award (International Association of Dental Traumatology, 2014), Hayden-Harris Award (American Academy of the History of Dentistry), e Honorary Fellowship in Dental Surgery do Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, Escócia.
