Pearls, tips, and tricks the author has developed over the years to achieve consistent stable results;
Failures, for it is to throw these that we most learn and evolve.
From epidemiological studies we can assumed that around 50% of the population show at least one sign of dysfunction of the craniomandibular system (studies
vary between 30%-70%). This means that 1 in every 2 patients that came into our dental offices are already compensating for temporomandibular dysfunction (even
though symptoms may not be present).
These patients are at higher risk of decompensating, and dental treatments have the potential to increase (or decrease) this risk. Therefore, a side from a proper diagnosis and treatment plan considering the functions of the craniomandibular system we also need an orthodontic tool that will allow clinicians to control occlusal plane inclination, vertical dimension, and mandibular position. Prof. Sadao Sato as proven that Multi Loop Edgewise Archwire (MEAW) is an ideal orthodontic tool for achieving functional harmony of the whole masticatory system, comprising the supporting tissues, the muscles, and the TMJ-occlusion relationship.

Aula 7.Cranio-mandibular orthodontics with aligners (Invisalign®)
Also available in Spanish language.
– The practical aspects of transferring Prof. Sadao Sato`s philosophy of treatment (occlusal medicine) to an aligner technic;
– How to incorporate cephalometric, articulator an axiography data into the treatment strategy with aligners (CleanCheck®);
– Strategies for avoiding pitfalls and mistakes;
– Pearls, tips, and tricks to achieve consistent stable results;
– We will also share some of our failures, for it is throw these that we most learn and evolve.
The use of plastic aligner systems to correct dental position has increased significantly in recent years. However, their usefulness as a true orthodontic tool is far
from unanimous, with many orthodontists advocating that aligners are just that: tools for the alignment of teeth. In the author`s opinion, aligners are an excellent orthodontic tool for the functional treatment of the craniomandibular system, including the control of occlusal plane inclination, vertical dimension, and mandibular position. In many ways, aligners can be more efficient than MEAW.
In this clinical oriented webinar, the author will share his approach to craniomandibular orthodontic reconstructions with the Invisalign® system, through the critical analysis of treated cases.
