Mais de 44 anos de experiência clínica e acadêmica em periodontia desde graduação em medicina em 1981. Recebeu grau MD pela University Complutense of Madrid (1981), diploma em Estomatologia (1983), e Doctor of Medicine (PhD, 1985) com tese doutoral sobre invasão bacteriana aos tecidos gengivais na periodontite avançada supervisionada pelo Dr. Antonio Bascones Martínez. Especialização em Periodontia pela University of California Los Angeles (UCLA, 1987). Ex-Decano da Faculty of Odontology na University Complutense of Madrid (2004-2012). Diretor do Postgraduate Program of Specialization in Periodontology na UCM desde 1989. Co-Diretor do Diploma in Research Methodology and Biostatistics na UCM.

Mais de 30 anos de experiência em pesquisa de odontologia de implantes e garantia de qualidade. Especialista em avaliação de limpeza de superfície de implante, controle de qualidade de fabricação na produção de implantes, prevenção de peri-implantite relacionada à contaminação de superfície, diferenças de qualidade entre implantes de titânio e cerâmica, e implicações clínicas de implantes contaminados. Fundador e líder de pesquisa demonstrando que muitos implantes dentais têm contaminação de superfície "de fábrica" (ab Werk) que pode contribuir para peri-implantite e falha de implante. Conhecido por trabalho pioneiro expondo deficiências de qualidade generalizadas na fabricação de implantes e defendendo padrões de indústria mais altos.

 

Autor de numerosas publicações científicas sobre qualidade de superfície de implante e contaminação.
