A six-month practice consisting of 3-modules on splint therapy by professor Gregor Slavicek — the most powerful practical training on this topic!
Be prepared for theory, PRACTICE, and analysis of your own clinical cases with professor Slavicek.
During the 3 modules (9 days of intensive training) you will:
– study the protocols of splint therapy for temporomandibular disorder, orofacial pain, displacement of the articular disc, bruxism
– manufacture different types of splints under the supervision of professor Slavicek.
The practice will take place in Moscow, Electrodnaya, 10. Rikom lab.
PROGRAM
Module 1
(April 25-27, 2023)
– Principles of a splint therapy
– Application guidelines: instructions for the patient
– Equilibration of splints
– Monitoring the clinical course of the splint treatments
– The theory of intraoral splints
– Main splint indications
– Typical splint designs
– The actual scientific evidence. Review of the literature
– Upper and/or lower splints
– High angle/high vertical vases
– Case presentations and discussion including fabrication of intraoral splints:
- Vertical dimension
- Protrusive position
- Retrusive control
- Anterior control.
– Implementation and equilibration: clinical protocol:
- Night time or day time?
- 24hours?
- 24hours plus meals?
– Monitoring, adaptation and equilibration
– Guidelines for the case selection which will be presented and analyzed during Module 2.
Module 2
(June 16-19, 2023)
– Indication for the particular splint
– Exact instruction for the fabrication of the splint
– Exact instruction for the application and equilibration
– Discussion of selected cases of the participants:
- Patients with muscular problem
- Patients with headache and neck problem
- Bruxing patient with vertical loss
- Patients with TMJ pain and atypical facial pain
- Patients with disc dislocation with/without reduction.
– Implementation and equilibration: clinical protocol
– Monitoring, adaptation and equilibration
– The procedure of the interim analyses.
Module 3
(October 16-18, 2023)
– Implementation and equilibration: clinical protocol
– Special splint designs
– Follow up of selected cases – the interim analyses:
- Patients with muscular problem
- Patients with headache and neck problem
- Bruxing patient with vertical loss
- Patients with TMJ pain and atypical facial pain
- Patients with disc dislocation with/without reduction.
– What comes after the splints? The next treatment steps
– Walking back strategies:
- Sagittal walking back
- Vertical walking back.
– Analog vs. digital manufacturing
– Analyzing failures and mistakes.
